Posted - 01/01/2011 : 21:10:09 Today I got a Black Mexican King snake, The previous owner said he had shed recently, but I think he may have retained one of the eye caps.
should I leave to come off with the next slough? or should I try remove next week after he has settled in?
he's approx 4foot and about 3years old, I think he may also have mites, so he's in quarantine for the moment
thanks for reading this

Posted - 11/01/2011 : 10:18:23 I would agree with Kehhlyr- just giving him regular baths and using a damp towel should help. You can also raise the humidity in the viv for a few days before the next shed to help him shed it on his own.
Some people do try and get retained eye caps off with a cotton bud, but I would not advise this unless you really know what you are doing or as a last resort as the eyes are so easy to damage.
How are you treating the mites? |

Make sure he's had a nice swim or good run through a warm damp towel and then see how he is. I personally would go for the damp hide route for a day before trying to remove it. |
