Hello all,
I have recently got a young kingsnake and am just wondering when to start handling her.

another tip is to let her come to you, rather than grabbing hold of her...mine will bite if i grab him.

Good advice from Headlow, leave it a minimum of two weeks and make sure she is feeding then just handle for 5 minutes to begin with. Young kings can musk sometimes as well but don't let it put you off. It smells a bit but washes off very easily

It's generally best to wait until the snake has fed. Give the snake 48 hours after the first feed and then handle for 5 minutes or so. As the snake gets used to its surroundings and you, you can start to increase the handling time. Try not to over handle until the snake has had a good few feeds, and stop handling if the snake stops eating.
