Posted - 18/07/2010 : 13:39:59 My MBK is now a year old, and as many of you know the Common Kingsnakes have quite a feeding response. Mine is no different...in fact it's got to the point now that whenever he/she thinks that food is on offer she bites me. Now it doesn't hurt, nor am I scared but I'd like this to nip this in the bud before the snake gets bigger. I've always fed the snake in a tub, but I'm seriously considering putting the food on a bit of paper in the viv for the snake to find. The problem I have with this is that this is the way I was told to feed my Mexican Milk (my 1st snake) and it never worked. Would I be right in thinking that my MBK will be different? Will it also help cut out the biting?
For those who feed in the viv, could you tell me how you go about it?
Many thanks,
Justin. |

Posted - 19/07/2010 : 13:10:21 I feed my mex milk with a plate.i put the plate in the ViV and right when i do, she gets into food mode and jumps at the mouse i put on the plate (or wiggle ust above the plate, she wont touch it unless i wiggle :p). once the plate comesout when she finally gets off it, shes back to normal shy non-nippy snake. shes gotten used to seeing the Red plate and knows thats when its food time! took her a while to know, but she has it down. you could try that! IDK much about how different MBK's are to mex. milks though. Goodluck to you! |
