Hello again!
sorry to ask so many questions but i am a new snake owner!
I have recently heard my snake sneezing or weezing. i took her to the vet and he said she was healthy and to make it a little hotter in the tank just in case, i went and got a second opinion from the guy i bought her from(he raises snakes and owns his pet store where i bought her) and he said she seems fine too! 2 days after i still hear her sneezing/weezing! any thoughts?

That's good to hear, glad all is OK

I boosted the heat the last few weeks, and i dont hear anymore sneezing which is good! the only time i hear it sometimes is after she has a drink which could just be her getting water out of her nose!!!

I suppose if the vet says all is OK then there's not much else you can do. As you have said there is nothing else wrong so no point worrying. Just keep an eye on her to see if anything changes

no she justg shed, i checked for skin around the nose and couldnt find any. she still is sneezing, but its not an RI, no snot bubbles and it sounds dry. not sure what it is, vet says shes healthy! its a mystery

You sure she isn't coming up for a shed? Sometimes loose skin around their nostrils can make them make sounds like that.

Aspen shouldn't be too dusty. You should leave it for a while after puting it in for the dust to settle but kings do well on Aspen. If you still think it may be related to Aspen then you could try newspaper or kitchen roll for a while and see if it makes a difference

Sneezing seems to be going away slowly, a few here and there but it sounds dry, i use aspen shavings, think it might be too dusty for her?

initially try raising the temps a few degrees and removing the cool hide so she has to use the warm one. this effectively gives her a 'fever' to fight off the bugs that cause RIs
providing a horizontal branch so she can perch with her head lowerthan her body will help drain any mucous, as will increasing the humidity for 48hrs

No its definetly not a hiss its a sneezing or wheezing sound, she does it every once in a while its got me a bit worried.
Kazerella Posted - 25/02/2010 : 19:05:11
Are you sure he's not hissing a bit. My king does it when he's really agitated, so maybe the move to a new home has made him a bit hissy? He should calm down eventually, but do continue to keep an eye on him in case it is a R.I (respiratory infection).
