Posted - 01/03/2009 : 21:54:50 i have an albino milk snake [4/5months old]. she's brilliant to hold and i've had no problems so far, but i'm thinking of buying moss to keep in her tank. Is this a good move? To assist the shedding proccess??
Thanks:) |

Posted - 07/03/2009 : 21:52:15 I agree that its better not to use a flash if possible as snakes look better in natural light but sometimes its difficult to get a shot that way. Good luck with getting some good pics, you're definitely right about snakes being fascinating! |

oh okay. with good natural light then i assume. might pop her into a large tub to take pictures. can't have her dashing off to explore in my room when i try and take a shot
over my boyfriends house at the moment and were discussing his corn snake. we think it's an okeetee, but it also looks similar to a normal corn snake ocassionally. he's uploaded a little pic on the corn snake.com [theonlydarrenever] but it's not of great quality.hmmm, curious. ANYWAYYYY, back to point - today his snake fully shed [for the first time since he's had him] and munch on a pinky! Can't wait to see my milk do the same :D

Posted - 07/03/2009 : 20:21:22 haha sorry i'm useless! i was hoping to thieve my boyfriend's camera but the batteries were dead! soo, i'll try to do it tomorrow night!
am i okay to use flash or no? [i ask because as some of you may know, i had a little incident where my housemate set his camera flash off in her face and she seemed a little stunned, but i've noticed that some of your pictures have been taken with flash.... she's albino so i don't want to hurt her!]
otherwise i'm afraid the pictures wont be super clear :\ |

Wait until she flicks at your face and see how much you dont mind it then |

Posted - 03/03/2009 : 13:47:55 She'll calm down if you keep up with the handling anyway as she's still getting used to you.
You could try putting a glove or t-shirt in the viv so that she learns to feel comfortable with oyur smell. That sometims helps.
You one of the few people who doesn't mind musking- it smells awful |

Posted - 02/03/2009 : 21:09:20 okay, i'll have a nose next time i'm at a reptile store.
one thing i'm worried about though, she seems to be jumpy when i handle her [i try to do it twice a day for her to get used to handling] and seems to be scared of me. anything i can do to calm her a bit? she musked on me earlier and although i don't mind it, i'd really prefer for her not to feel so threatened by me. chances are nothing can be done, but i dont want her to stress. any thoughts/ideas? |

Posted - 02/03/2009 : 20:31:06 great looking snake, you could also use aspen or hemp substrate which is very good for burrowing. |
