I have been handling him atleast once a day he seems fine with it and the last time i lifted his little house he came up on my hand himself.
I would put the digital thermometer in the warm end,the cold end will on average be room temp, use the digi thermometer to make sure it's not to hot, my stat readings never match the true temps, use the digi to get an accurate reading of the warm end and then adjust your stat to suit. Mark
Agree with this. I buy dual probe digital thermometers so I can monitor both sides but cold end it just room temp so if you have one it's better off at the hot end. |

Posted - 30/05/2012 : 13:12:42 once fed leave him for 48 hrs to digest. Dont disturb him.
Whilst hes settling in leave him until feed day on sunday. Dont disturb him as hes getting used to his new surroundings and if hes disturbed you could poss have an unsuccessful feed
Do you have a thermostat to control the temps of the mat? |

Posted - 30/05/2012 : 13:07:35 I guys im not sure of an exact age, i think its a common kingsnake as its black and white, im going to post pics later when i lift him out dont want to disturb him for a little while, i have already handled him and he seems pretty friendly although i did have a stage of the rattling the tail but that was merely my fault, once lifted he was fine. I bought him in a pet store a local one, i was lucky i read the internet first because the heat mat that came with the package i bought was set at 19c , and i had to adjust the heat mat its now around 28c on one end and 26 other time for adjustments? i need to learn a little more to make sure those are fine. I have a months worth of food in the freezer, i was told he is used to eating once every sunday and to not touch him on the sunday. I have the hay type of substrate which i read is not too good for just dropping the food into as he/her might swallow some of the substrate, so i have a smaller plastic tub im going to lift him into and keep him there with no substrate and use it as a feeding place.
Am i doing anything wrong or should i do anything differently? I have not fed him yet but sunday he is due! i bought him on Monday :-) already fed |
