Hey Everybody...

How you all doing?
Im a newbee in snake keeping :/
This past weekend i decided to go to the reptile expo to get myself a nice corn snake to start up with... wow the choices...
so I ended up coming home with 3 snakes... one normal Milk Snake, one Apricot milk Snake and one Hi White California King Snake... hehehe

anyway... the guy that sold them to me said it is fine to keep the two milk snakes together(and when i got home i saw various posts online that it is not a good idea...:( )

Is it ok that i keep them together for the time being until the show aggression towards eachother?( they are pretty much the same size...)

Thanks to all u great ppl!

I will be getting my forst King soon, but have 2 corns and a Jungle carpet Python already. My main advice to you as a new snake keeper is to stick with forums such as this and follow the advice of responsible, caring people who have been doing this for decades. There is a FAB Cornsnake forum i can highly recommend. it is snakepictures.co.uk and is dedicated to corns only (but of course are places to chat about everything including football lol!). the guy running it has 30 years experience and honestly is a lovely guy. I've never met him, just online. I'm not even in his country but he knows his stuff! he has a great ebook for 4 pounds which covers everything you will need to know about corns.

whispers: we have a sister cornsnake forum too www.thecornsnake.co.uk

I agree with deadmansfinger I would not keep them together. Last year my girlfreind two corns, been together for 1 year maybe a little they both around 1 year old. Well I got a call in the morning and went over to her house, I. Saw a corn inside of another corn. So if two corns can do that an milk or a king would be able to. And welcome to the forum I'm kinda new my self.

I wouldn't keep them together as you may wake up one morning to 2 dead snakes when one tries to eat the other and they both die which is more common in young snakes. Also you don't want them breeding too young. What setups etc do you have?

Welcome to the forum, look forward to seeing some pics!

Apparently (according to the guy that sold them to me) the are aprox 4-6 months old... and the milkys are one male one female...
they are both still small (aprox 30cm each).

I have decided to keep them together in the hopes that they dont turn cannibalistic, but as soon as the first sighn appears i will get a new vivarium and separate them...

Another question if i may,

the Vivarium i am using for my King is a used one. it used to be the home of a bosh monitor... i cleaned it as best i could... do u think that it would be a problem?

Thanks a mil and i cant tell you how happy i am to have found a really decent Forum that is actually active :)

As long as you are prepared for any kind of potential difficulty in cohabbing esp the breeding side of it. Snakes should be a certain age, weight and length before you can breed successfully/properly. And as I said if the female falls gravid prematurely she may become egg bound with is potentially lethal to her.

In reg to using a pre used viv, I have done so in the past and it hasnt bothered the rep in it Im assuming it was cleaned/disinfected properly as I had no problems xx

Hi there How old are they? YOu obviously know the problems cohabiting may cause, from reading the posts. I personally would keep them together in hopes that they never show aggression, but thats just me. You run the risk of cannibalism. Also if sexed incorrectly you run the risk of the female falling gravid prematurely. causing all kinds of health problems which could potentially result in her death.

Looking forward to seeing some pics xx
