If it was just a Mex-Black then no need to panic...No Colubrids are poisonous!!!
Bit of dettol and you"ll be fine.

48hours!! That's a bit much. It broke the skin a little bit, I reckon that the hand will be gone within 24 hours*.

I just realised something, we have the little rule that "you're not a proper snake keeper until you've been tagged (bitten)". You are aware that as you've been tagged you're classified as a proper snake keeper, so you should get one yourself now. The kids'll love it as well.

Sounds like a Mexican Black King. You'll be fine I have one myself and a few times he/she has mistaken one of my fingers for dinner and swallowed them. Just clean the area and it should be fine.

Assuming that you cleaned your hands well afterwards, then I wouldn't worry about it at all to be honest.
Several members on here (myself included) have not only been bitten by our kingsnakes, but have been practically chewed on as well.

Generally anyone that does have any adverse reaction is normally due to secondary infection afterwards, where the scratch gets infected by something else.

Also I'm saying the above with the assumption that it was a pet kingsnake being kept by someone in the UK. Kingsnakes are not venomous so you wont have been 'poisoned' by it at all.

Out of interest can you try to describe the rough size/colour of the snake, thanks.
