Hi people, thought i'd look in on the Kingsnake forum for a more educated opinion and answers on the subject.
I'll cut to the chase-Im loooking for a Mex black hatchie as i have a nice new viv waiting for him/her (pref him).
I already have a corn (okeetee morpth) whose name is ziggy and absolutely fantastic.
Im well aware of the fact kings are a bit snappy and not exactly over friendly but i have such a respect for these creatures and can give it a good home.
I would be really greatful for your input and guidence on owning a king and sharing ideas and info.
Regards Richard

Thanks, will keep my eye open.
I do want to buy from a trusted source and know the breeder is Kosher.
Theres a nice cali king on one of the free-ad sites. Im gonna stick too my guns though.
A Mexican black is the one for me.

the dark side has a good classified section but i wouldn't dare post anywhere else on there

Thanks, yeah theyre really nice though aside from their snappy nature. I think you just have to relax around them and give them space. They will soon realise your not a threat to them and give you the same respect.
The real dilema i have is where to get one. I can wait for my local reptile center to get one but i dont want to pay over the odds when theres breeders out there who arnt trying to rip you off. Is there any breeders out there with MBKs?
Good home waiting!lol

Hi, Thanks for the tip. A friend recommended i get a Mex Black aswell and they do look like the best choice. The look cool too!
I have a smallish tank at mo so a hatchie would be my first choice and yes i will handle it regularly so it gets to know me and be comfortable.
The first place i tried was my local aquatics and reptile center but they couldnt be sure how long it would take. I think theyre a bit pricey aswell. Im not in any hurry but am ready with all the bits etc.
Im pretty sure a breeder will be in touch soon. They get satisfaction from knowing theyre giving a snake a good home.lol

Glad you've come over to the king site

Kings are great and if you are getting a hatchling then you should have no problems. They are a bit more feisty than corns, but you can't really call then nasty snakes.

Mexi-blacks are a good choice too. I would try and get a hatchling and handle it regularly from a young age and you'll have nothing to worry about
